About Your Membership
First and Foremost, Welcome to the Iowa Association of Building Maintenance Engineers! Whether you are a new member, or a returning member, here you will find information you need to keep your mechanical certifications current and in good standing.
In order to maintain a current certificate, you must maintain your membership with the IABME. Invoices are sent out at the beginning of August for membership dues to be paid by September 1st. These dues must be paid before receiving updated certificates. Certifications are good for one year, or until the September of the following year depending on testing dates.
Continuing education is required for anyone holding a mechanical certificate (Boiler Operator, High Pressure Boiler operator [Boiler Technician] basic air conditioning). 10 CEU's are required over a 3 Year period. 1 CEU is equal to 2 in class hours. CEU's Can include, but are not Limited to, safety meetings, seminars, online classes, any class the IABME offers, OSHA Trainings and more. Please contact us to verify if a class is counted before submitting for CEU's.
As we move into the digital era, we move away from waste as much as possible. In order to receive invoices and your certificates an E-mail address is REQUIRED. We do not send out weekly or monthly email blasts. We do have a Quarterly Newsletter we send out, otherwise your email is strictly for membership related purposes only. All certifications are electronic now so without a current E-mail address we cannot send you your certificate.
